Countdown to Thanksgiving!

Standard

Thanksgiving is in two days! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, because I love food!  since it’s so close I thought I would share five things I am thankful for.

1. Family!

I am thankful for my family because they’re always around.  I don’t have to worry about them leaving me or not having them.  Family is an eternal thing.  My sister especially, usually we get along, and w have so much fun together.  It’s more of a love-hate relationship.  We secretly love eachother, and only if you knew us very well you wouldn’t think so.

2. Friends!

I am thankful for my friends because they have my back!  I can tell them anything and I know they won’t think any different of me.  Friends are your friends because they accept you for who you are and not who they want you to be.

3. Opportunities!

I am thankful for the oppotunities I have because they are endless.  I am privleged enough to have a family that does everything I need them to do.

4. Phone!

Now I am not thankful for my phone because I am attached to it, I’m thankful because it keeps me in touch with the people that I love or the people I can’t see everyday.  When you have familyt that lives in a another city, sometimes it’s hard to see them all the time.  Just think about the poeple who have family that lives across the country or even the world.  The advancing technology keeps them in touch.

5. Exercise!

I am thankful for exercise because I love being fit.  I have been an athlete my whole life and working out has always comforted me.  When I work out it clears my head, and sometimes I need to clear my head.

There are my five things to be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving!

Starting in 1969, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, and Graham Chapman started making comedic shows.  They started with a TV series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” in 1969.  The final “Meaning Of Life” film in 1983 was the last time the group appeared with their sixth member Graham Chapman, who died of cancer six years later.

One thing to be excited about is coffee! Who doesn't love coffee? I spend most fo my time at starbucks with my friends, just hanging out or doing homework. It's a very relaxing environment and I can accomplish more there than I can at home.

Sports are anouther thing to be excited about, well if you're an athlete. Either way they are still fun. It's something to channel your anger or emotions into, but it's something that has been a part of my life since I was a little kid. I don't know where I'd be today without sports.

Movies are exciting because they take you into another universe. You can livein a fantasy for a couple hours and imagine what it wuold be like to be in the movie you are watching.

In favor of my love for Disney World I thought I’d share some videos about children getting surprised by their parents with a trip to Disney World.
This little girl is Lily, she is being surprised for her birthday.

The next video is of the same little girl being surprised AGAIN by her parents.  Her reaction is the same, but pay close attention to her little sister, Chloe!

These little girls are very famous.  They are all over social media, but it’s not famous for the reaction of Lily.  Chloe’s face in the second video is what made the viewers love the video.

10. April Fools

I chose April Fools Day as number ten because it is fun to pull pranks on people.

9. Easter

I chose Easter as number nine because who doesn’t love Easter?  It’s a part of my family and plus, as a little kid you get excited about the Easter Bunny.

8. Independence Day (4th of July)

I chose 4th of July as number eight because of the tradtions we do.  We watch the praade and go to a friends house to watch the fireworks.

7. New Year’s Day

New Year’s Day is number seven.  New Year’s Day deserves to be represented on its own because after all the parties, people get to start their resolutions.

6. New Year’s Eve

Number six is New Year’s Eve.  New Year’s Eve is a time to get with all your friends and go to parties to celebrate the new year that is coming.  You can forget everything from that year and start over.

Coming in at number five is Halloween.  Halloween is fun becasue you get to dress up and eat a lot of candy.

Coming in at number four is St. Patrick’s Day.  I chose this day for number four because even the people who are of Irish heritage still celebrate by going to pubs and drinking special drinks.

3. Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is is number three.  Who doesn’t love love?

2. Thanksgiving

Coming in at number two is Thanksgiving.  Thanksgiving almost deserves to be number one because of how much I love food, but nothing beats the number one holiday.

1. Christmas

Coming in at number one is Christmas!!  Christmas is number one because well, it is Christmas.  Everyone around the world loves when Decmeber rolls around.  Family from all over the country come to one place just to be together for a short period of time.

Countdown to Veterans Day!

Standard

Tomorrow is Veterans day! Starting in 1918, November 11 became known as the end of “the war to end all wars.” This was the time of World War I. the war was officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919. In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations” Many people recognize Veterans Day as a day to be thankful for the men that fought for our country many years ago. Many members of my family have served in the army, we take tomorrow very seriously. It’s a time to thank the people we know or don’t know for their time and service they have given to protect our country.

Today is Diwali!  Diwali is a day to enjoy the delicious sweets, light the bright lamps and have a sparkling celebration.  It’s a festival that started in India and has evolved around the world.  There is no set reason as to why it started.  Many people have different beliefs.  One myth is about “The Bhagavata Purana also tells us about Narakasura, an evil demon king who somehow got great powers and conquered both the heavens and earth. Narakasura was very cruel and was a terrible ruler. It is believed that Lord Vishnu killed Narakasura on the day before Diwali and rescued many women whom the demon had locked in his palace. The people of heaven and earth were greatly relieved to have got freedom from the hands of the terrible Narakasura. They celebrated the occassion with much grandeur, a tradition that is believed to be alive through the annual observance of Diwali.”
